At age eleven I started playing electric guitar after hearing the music of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Stones. Six years of private study with local instructor Steve Kostyk followed. Steve encouraged me to seek out and learn different styles of music; classical, blues, and jazz music all found their way into my repertoire. At 17 I began gigging professionally, playing many venues and different styles in and around the Niagara region.
After deciding to pursue a music career, I attended the Mohawk College Jazz program in 1996, which included private study with Joey Goldstein and Bob Shields, and ensemble instruction with Will Jarvis, Kevin Dempsey, Bob Hamper, Dave McMurdo and Pat Collins.
I've been lucky enough to have shared the stage with recording artists such as country-rock group The Skydiggers, Kingston pop-rock group Weeping Tile (featuring Sarah Harmer), alt-country group Luther Wright and The Wrongs, Rock legends Randy Bachman and Kim Mitchell, critically acclaimed folk artist Stephen Fearing and folk-rock group Blackie & The Rodeo Kings (featuring Canadian guitar hero Colin Linden and Tom Wilson, formerly of Junkhouse). I've also had the privilege of recording with jazz bassist Kieran Overs, trombonist William Carn, drummer Joel Haynes and trumpeter Mike Malone, along with various other rock, country, pop and jazz groups.
